Burton Latimer. She had at least three siblings; an older sister, Frances, born 1770, and tw o younger brothers, William, born 1775 and George born 1778. In November 1802, banns of her forthcoming marriage to George Shipley were published at Burton Latimer by Rev. S. Barwick and they married in December 1802 at Isham, Nr. Burton Latimer. Between 1803 - 1813 they had six children -William, Frances, Mary Ann, Jane, George and Fanny. Sadly, the first two died at birth; the others were all baptised at Burton Latimer. Mary Ann died in 1818 aged 11. By 1837 (according to a petition for clemency re. her son George) she was a widow. The 1841 census for Northants shows an Ann Shipley, a female servant, aged 68. The 1851 census for Northants shows an Ann Shipley, widow aged 78 - a pauper. Ann died on January 22nd 1868 at Burton Latimer, aged 95. She was buried on 29th January at St Mary's Parish Church In the petitions for clemency Anne was always commended as being highly respectable and of good character. In the last, made in 1847 and forwarded by D. Barclay of Burton Latimer Rectory, Higham Ferrers to Lord Spencer with a request to make it known to the Secretary of state (? Sir George) it is stated that; "she takes the lead amongst the widows of the place for consistency of conduct, morality and character". Well done Anne.
